Vellum LA Presents: #PeaceForUkraine | A Digital Billboard Exhibition In Support of Ukrainians Affected By War

As part of our #PeaceForUkraine initiative, Vellum LA is amplifying artists who are raising funds to help Ukrainians affected by war. We are currently showcasing artworks from Krista Kim, Mieke Marple, Nicolas Sassoon, and MBSJQ on 4 billboard screens around LA.

No. 700 v.26 by Krista Kim and #83 from Mieke Marple’s Medusa collection are part of Kenny Schachter & David Cash NFTU-KRAINE collection available on OpenSea. After witnessing the plea from the president of the Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, seeking financial assistance for his country’s efforts to resist the Russian invasion Kenny made quick work of collaborating with David Cash, who heads an NFT design firm in Toronto, and launching the NFTUkraine collection. 100% of proceeds go to the official Ukrainian ETH wallet.

Krista Kim’s No. 700 v.26 is an algorithmic painting in 4K resolution intended for large screen display. Kim’s pieces are aimed at achieving digital Zen. They allow for a moment of mindfulness and contemplation. In the fast pace of everything around us, Kim uses the lights of our screens to give pause. Experience this moment of pause at the Marriot where it is on display.

No. 700 v.26 is currently still available for purchase. Place Bid

Mieke Marple’s Medusa Collection is a set of 2,500 unique NFTs based on Marple’s paintings of canonical Italian sculptures of Medusa, spanning 1545 to 1805. Marple started this series in 2019 when she discovered the underlying story of Medusa, who is often only referred to in her context as a slain monster and not often her creation story as a victim. #83 from the collection is currently being displayed on 3rd and Mariposa.

The Collection is made using a combination of analog and digital techniques. A randomizing algorithm generates each Medusa, which is a unique combination of these techniques and traits.

We Pray For Peace by MBSJQ is showcased on Melrose & Spaulding and is part of Parker Yiltch's Ukraine Relief Collection, which aims to provide funds for humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees. The collection is composed of 37 talented artists in the NFT space. They are utilizing the power of the blockchain to raise money for a good cause in the most transparent way possible. 100% of the proceeds (primary & secondary) from the Ukraine Relief Collection will go to @Ukraine_DAO .

Nicolas Sassoon  is selling 1000 editions of his work SUNRISE, which can be seen on the Wilshire Landing billboard, at 1tez each with 100% profits going to this contract address KT1DWnLiUkNtAQDErXxudFEH63JC6mqg3HEx in support of Ukrainian Charities.

Nicolas is a Franco-Canadian artist who utilizes early computer graphics to create pixelated forms & figures, moiré patterns, and architectural structures. His interest in using early computer graphics is grounded in the sculptural, material and pictorial qualities of the imagery, as well as the limitations of the medium and its poetic nature.

There are currently less than 100 editions of Sunrise left. Collect
